MRZ scanner questions
What is an MRZ?
MRZ stands for Machine Readable Zone, found on many passports and identity documents. It contains document data in two or three lines of text. The scanner reads these lines and returns recognised fields as structured data and JSON.
Which documents can I scan?
Passports and identity documents with TD1, TD2 or TD3 machine-readable zones. Keep the entire MRZ visible, sharp and free of glare. Check digits verify mathematical consistency; they do not establish document authenticity.
How does camera scanning work?
The Camera tab opens your camera and starts automatic recognition after browser permission. Hold the document steadily inside the frame. Individual captures are transmitted; the camera stops when recognised or after 30 seconds. You can stop at any time and start a new scan.
Are my images stored?
Yes. We store original images and complete results encrypted for 30 days from upload for training and quality improvement. They are then deleted automatically. To request earlier deletion, send your upload ID to info@oasisscan.de.
How do I integrate MRZ recognition?
The prepared REST API accepts Base64 images and returns structured JSON. Access is set up by arrangement. The API documentation covers inputs, result fields and error handling.
